This Master thesis addresses the assessment of the quality of registration of terrestrial laser scanning point clouds and aerial photogrammetric point clouds, which were produced from high resolution aerial images. We analyzed the usefulness of different volumetric and planar artificial targets, used as tie points for determining the transformation parameters for the registration of those two data sets. Our main interest was in the usefulness of the new target, which we had designed for this purpose and is presented in this thesis. For the needs of the research the acquisition of aerial images with UAV was done at different altitudes, aiming at producing aerial photogrammetric point clouds, and scanning of study area was done with a terrestrial laser scanner. Reference measurements of artificial targets were carried out with the total station, by performing laser scanning and polar method of terrestrial measurements. The assessment of the quality of registration was done by using Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) on check points. Based on the analysis of registrations, we defined the advantages and limits of analyzed artificial targets and proposed the new target as the most suitable artificial target for registration of aerial photogrammetric and terrestrial point clouds.
