In tumble dryers, we want to achieve high flows and pressures with the fan. High flows enable better blowing of the laundry and thus more efficient and shorter drying time. The influence of the entrances on the characteristic of the radial fan was determined at the measuring station where the performance and efficiency curves were measured and the velocity field at the inlet of the fan was determined with the hot wire anemometer. From the results, we found improvement in the performance and efficiency of the measured fan in the case of an inverted entrance according to its default position in the tumble dryer.
