Globalization of labour market caused seemingly paradoxical situation where, on the one hand, we are facing with erosion of workers' rights, which is reflected in the growth of atypical forms of work, as well as in the increasing numbers of the precarious workers. In this conditions unions as organizations, aimed to protect the rights and interests of workers, are confronted with increasing decline of their members. In this paper we analyse the role of trade unions and collective identity in shaping workers' collective actions within the conditions of precarious employment and individualization. The analysis of factors, which contribute to the success of collective action, is based on interviews with trade unionists, who have organized or actively participated in the collective action in the last two years. Factors, which havde an important effect on the formation of collective identity, are analyzed throughworkers in so-called "creative" professions. The findings show that the success of collective action depends on many factors, such as collective identity, the common work experience and activity of the union, but the crucial role is activity of trade union membership itself or the individual responsibility of the worker, which is highly encouraged by the work of the trade union itself.
