In the theoretical part of the diploma thesis The Spelling of Open and Closed Compounds with Infixes in the Dictionary of New Slovenian Words (Slovar novejšega besedja % SNB) word formation, compounds and the division of infixes, which are the main focus of the thesis, are shortly presented. After a general overview of the definition of the infix compounds in the past and according to different linguistic manuals with the emphasis on the SNB, follows an overview of the issues of spelling compounds with two nouns in the present tense. The focus is on all key findings of linguists on the discussed topic, their different views, arguments and suggestions. In the practical part, the selection manner of the material is described. For each of the three groups of the infix compounds examples were chosen, which were analysed with the help of the SNB and afterwards the Gigafida corpus from the point of view of spelling. In the conclusion, the most important research findings and possible standpoints for the standardisation of compounds with two nouns according to the dictionary users are listed.
