Organizations in one place combine a multitude of different characters and personalities that need to be managed and directed so that they achieve their set goals through their work. The leader has a complex task, since he influences employees through his leadership style. Inappropriate leadership impacts the quality of relationships, decreases employee satisfaction, increases tensions in the organization and causes a rise of conflicts. The machiavelistic leadership is characterized by manipulation, the desire to control and distrust. A machiavelistic leader is an exhausting element for employees within the organization. Due to his excessive motivation do reach the goal, he destroys teamwork and exhausts employees on the mental and physical level. The Master’s thesis studies the impacts of machiavelistic leadership principles on employees, their perspective on the organization and the consequent emerge of organizational cynicism and the reactions of employees to negative circumstances in terms of the emerge of emotional exhaustion.
Based on the descriptive and comparative work methods, the theoretical part summarizes the findings of existing researches. The empirical part presents the research sample, thoroughly analyses the results, the set hypotheses, the variable model and the set of measures, which organizations can use to reduce the impact of machiavelistic leadership principles on the emotional exhaustion of employees. In order to obtain the data, we designed a questionnaire with open- and closed-type questions and evaluation scales. The analysis of the results was performed with different statistical methods in the program tools Excel and SPSS. Throughout the Master’s thesis, we proved the connection between machiavelistic leadership with organizational cynicism and emotional exhaustion on a sample of employees.
Although the master's thesis has achieved its purpose and goal, the research provides numerous possibilities for further research.
