In my thesis I am going to describe the current situation on the farm Brence. I am going to propose four possible measures and assess their relevance. Our farm deals with the production of cow's milk, which is sold to the Kmetija Pustotnik d.o.o. company, which produces and markets dairy products and is also owned by Brence family. We are planning to build a new barn with a milking parlor for cows and thus improve the overall animal welfare, to facilitate work and increase the number of dairy cows. We would like to build a hayloft and begin to produce hay milk. We are going to participate in the open call for project proposals and try to acquire a grant for 50% of the funds for these two investments. We own approximately 9 hectares and rent 14 hectares of agricultural land. We also own 11 hectares of forest. In the year 2016 we reared 70 cattle of which 40 are dairy cows. They produced 266.500 litres of milk. The annual revenues amounted to 157.363 EUR of which 21.606 EUR came from agricultural subsidies. Net hourly rate for the family members amounts to 3.42 EUR. The measure to stop rearing heifers on other farms is not econimical since buying new breeding heifers and feeding calves would demand higher costs. The measure to introduce a flexible part of salary for the farm employees, works out well only if it does not exceed the amount of 71 EUR per month. The decision to build a new barn and hayloft would be profitable since it would increase net hourly rate above 4 EUR and would keep rising in the following years.
