Various types of timber loadbearing construction were analyzed in this master’s thesis. All of the systems were described individually and the transfer of vertical and horizontal load was shown. Static and dynamic analysis was performed on a single-family detached house for the selected loadbearing system. Regarding the conceptual design a heavy timber frame was selected as the type of loadbearing construction. The timber frame was designed using mainly timber and some steel elements. Vertical loads are transferred through rotationally joined columns and beams, while horizontal loads are transferred through timber and steel bracing. The static and dynamic loadbearing analysis was performed using Scia Engineer software. The load was analysed according to the valid SIST EN 1991-1:2004 standard. The relavant strain on the timber and steel was checked for both the ultimate limit and the serviceability limit state. Seismic load was calculated using modal analysis. Checks of individual construction elements were once again made for seismic load combinations. Design and check of significant joint was performed. Most of them were designed using a steel plate, which connects the elements together. Drawings were made of the assembly.
