The purpose of the diploma thesis entitled Redesigning Grafičar magazine is to determine critically, how the selected magazine is designed and comparing it with other magazines. The aim is to present a more appropriate design template for Grafičar. The paper is divided into two major parts. Theoretical part is written on the basis of secondary sources. It includes: a magazine, design, a layout, a grid, a margin, visual and text hierarchy, typography, colours, images, design rules, and principles. A lot has been told about the Grafičar magazine in an interview with its editor in chief. Computer redesigning assistance is provided by design programs Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesigns, and Adobe Photoshop. The experimental part starts with design problems of the cover page (logo, amount of whiteness, placement of the barcode, and connection of the cover photo with magazine content) and with the interior of magazine (amount of white space, colour uniformity, contrast between the titles, position of the titles, quantity of photographs) and continues with ideas how to solve them and presents the design of Screen Printing, Gradbeni vestnik, and Tekstilec. The description of the design process is accompanied by images of: logo positioning, magazine’s large photo cover, grid, and sketches of the typical page layouts. The final results of redesigning Grafičar magazine are revealed by: typical pages of articles, PR articles, News and Glossary section, as well as a calendar of events. In the conclusion, there are explanations about what was well done and what could be even better in the diploma thesis.
