In the last few years, tourism has become one of the fastest growing industries in the world, bringing many positive effects for both the private, public and tertiary sector. Its basic task is not only wide and diverse offer but also its promotion. In the Tolmin municipality, there are deficiencies in the promotion of tourism, which is also the main motivation for the survey. The purpose of this diploma is to present the concept of public sector and tourism and also their interconnection, the connection between technology and tourism, and to find out how tourism promotion is currently implemented in LTO Sotočje Tolmin. Based on this we submit proposals for improvements using ICT.
We obtained new insights and suggestions for improvements based on the researched theory, the analysis of LTO Sotočje Tolmin, and the analysis of interviews. The findings show that the information about tourist offers in Tolmin municipality does not reach locals and tourists to the extent that it would be necessary to provide. Problems arise in the communication between LTO Sotočje and tourism providers, which affect the emergence of problems. Theoretical findings and made analysis provided a lot of proposals for better tourism promotion in Tolmin municipality.
Based on the findings, Tolmin’s tourism offer can become more recognizable, which will in turn bring many positive effects for individuals as well as for the whole society. Positive impacts will be seen by all three sectors mentioned above since the increased tourist offer leads to increased tourist visits, opening of new jobs, increased care for the environment, GDP growth, infrastructure development, etc.
