In the present time, small municipalities increasingly employ inter-municipal cooperation as a common alternative due to the increasing number of tasks and responsibilities that the country places on local governments. Doing so, they justify expenses, gain greater expertise and efficiency, and consequently, provide economies of scale. Municipal corporations collaborate most commonly in the fields of security and inspection surveillance, and to a lesser extent in other tasks. The thesis presents the sense of integration among municipalities, where special attention is devoted to the analysis of the inter-municipal cooperation in the Municipality of Grosuplje, more precisely, among Inter-municipal Inspectorate and Constabulary of the Municipalities of Grosuplje, Ig, and Škofljica, and Inter-municipal Development Center of the Municipalities of Grosuplje, Ivančna Gorica and Trebnje. In the empirical part, the thesis presents the purpose and meaning of the formation of the joint corporations and the importance, advantages and disadvantages of the inter-municipal corporations. The literature that was used, was Slovenian and foreign. The study method also includes internet and other sources. The bases for research work were interviews conducted with the leaders of Inter-municipal corporations. On the basis of both confirmed hypotheses, it was found that inter – Municipal corporations are established primarily due to the rationalization of costs and the provision of greater professionalism in the provision of services.
