Peach is one of the most important fruit species grown in Slovenia in is on the third place according to fruit production. Peach is also interesting because of its colour and flavour. Peach should have typical colour and of good quality, that is interesting to the consumer. Commercially interesting fruit colour of peaches can be achieved by several different technological measures such as fertilisation, irrigation, pruning and training. For achieving colour and fruit quality in intensive plantations adequate fertilisation of plants is necessary. Irrigation has positive effect on faster and more intensive vegetative growth, but it can also regulate the optimal amount of bioactive compounds in peach fruit. Drought stress has negative effect on formation of anthocyanins in peach fruit. In order to achieve better light exposure and colouration pruning and optimal training system are needed. In the case of peaches it is necessary to suppress pests and prevent disease, because otherwise it has negative influence on yield and on lower peaches quality.
