This thesis presents the full design process from concept creation to the final product. The goal of this thesis was to design a new modern fashion collection for men and women, which bases on inspiration taken from Kenzo and tropical flora.
The theoretical portion of the thesis covers the main designers of Kenzo and their design traits. The connecting element between them is their fondness of Japanese culture, travel and use of live colours. Digital printing contributed heavily to pattern development and to how fashion is developing in the modern times. In the second portion of the theoretical segment we will present the most interesting project from fashion, architecture and installation, which all draw inspiration from flower motives.
The practical part of the thesis presents the development of a new fashion collection for men and women, which is connected to the theoretical portion covering tropical flora. Women clothing is usually more colourful, full of details and interesting print, flowers are literary transferred to the design pattern with the help of digital printing. Clothing for men are designed with a mix of hip-hop and tropical with an emphasis on details. We described our target audience and present the full work process: starting with a concept drawn on sketches and ending with a fully realised concept design. We have included the used colour pallet, materials and samples of the collection.
