Conflict management in Slovenian police is a very complex concept because of its working nature. The purpose of this study was to highlight conflict, its consequences and to emphasise the meaning of conflict management in Slovenian police. The purpose of this study was also to establish the successfulness of conflict management in Slovenian police and to find suggestions for potential improvement.
Theoretical part of this study was presented with Slovenian and foreign literature. For literature overview and analysis descriptive methods were used. Conflict, legislation for conflict management, alternative dispute resolution, maltreatment and Slovenian police, with its conflict management processes, were presented. For survey part of the study semi-structural sociological interviews were used.
Results show that conflict management in Slovenian police is successful, despite the fact that employees rarely use it. Reasons for this are not always connected with employees, but are closely connected with hierarchical structure of Slovenian police and individual managing styles.
In the future employees in the Slovenian police, and others, can use the results of this study for dealing with conflicts. Described can be used in a relationship towards co-workers and citizens.
