The diploma thesis is presenting work in the field of photography which consists of theoretical and experimental documentation of old photographs. The theoretical part presents the history of photography, older - analog and newer - digital photography and their advantages and disadvantages, methods of classical storing photographs on paper and modern storage by means of electronic devices with the possibility of real-time editing of files, subtitling, correction, deletion, transmission, inspection and archive footage. In the experimental part, the potential damage to photos on paper due to the effects of temperature (high and low) and humidity (freshwater and seawater), which the photos were exposed at the time of the investigation are presented. Practical results are illustrated by two surveys that describe the state of the documentation photography, and offer suggestions for photos. Digitized and printed as collage of old black and white photos are »My mother's childhood« and the old color photographs »My childhood«. Through selected and clever ways of documenting that prolong lifetime of old photographs the memories of past generations are preserved.
