The factors, which influence the development of social companies, are different and
influence their development differently. The purpose of the thesis is to contribute to the
understanding of social economy, social entrepreneurship, social innovations, directives
for the development of social entrepreneurship, and definitions of the meaning of the
factors for social companies. By abovementioned we wish to create the opportunities for
better, more targeted measures of the responsible ones in the field of development of
social entrepreneurship. The goal of the thesis is to create a model for the analysis of the
meaning of the factors for the development of social companies, to ascertain, which
factors are essential for their success, and to show the range of activities of social
entrepreneurship in Slovenia. In order to collect data, we used a web questionnaire. In
order to process and present the acquired data, we used a descriptive statistic,
presentation of data in tables and graphs. In order to process the hypotheses, we used a
correlation analysis of the variables and t-test. We set the hypotheses that external
factors influence the development of social companies more, that social companies
operate in more developed environment, and that the range of activities of social
companies in the European countries depends on the development of the countries. We
ascertained that the following factors have the greatest influence on the development of
social companies: access to financial resources, available resources within the company,
and the leadership. We also ascertained that social companies in Slovenia operate in less
instead of in more developed environment. On the other hand, we proved that the
presence of social companies in the European countries is larger in more instead of in less
developed countries, which is the opposite to the ascertainment on presence of social
companies in Slovenia. We believe that it is necessary to assume greater importance to
sustainability of social companies and to highlighting the influence of factors on their
development, instead of only to creation of these companies.
