The thesis includes description and presentation of building a cigarette making machine and its components. The machine is used for automated cigarette making. The objective is to make it simple enough for domestic use since many smokers tend to make cigarettes themselves, considering a pack of made cigarettes too expensive.
Existing solutions and design ideas are presented in the introduction. Further, the manufacturing process is divided into two major parts: mechanical and electrical. In the former all important mechanical elements are listed and described while the latter part includes presentation and description of all electrical parts and a controller program. The theoretical part of the thesis describes stepper motors and their controller circuits, micro switches and IR sensors. The microcontroller MIŠKO, made at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, is used for controlling the system. It has an LCD screen and 4 keys for defining machine settings.
