Cultural heritage is a heritage of everyone. It can present a big challenge by exploring it and can be designed into an entertaining and educational course, with children's participation and broader environment.
In the first part of my thesis, I theoretically presented the cultural heritage, tradition and methods used in the research. The latter has been substantiated with the curriculum, which is the national document of nursery schools. I also presented how the wedding used to look like in Suhakrajina. In the second part I presented the importance of integrating local tradition into the life and work of nursery school. The project’s research, The Wedding of our grandmothers and grandfathers, is shown with children’s active participation with various local associations in the form of workshops and wedding preparations in nursery school. To conclude the project, we prepared an exhibition of old photos and items. We also made a public event within a European project, under the theme Celebrations to honour the 25 years of European cultural heritage days. The research was completed with a conclusion of broad knowledge and skills, which children had gained through participation in the project. The descriptive analytical research method is used in the thesis.
