In the thesis we evaluated expected and already existed cycling links in the area of villages Šentjakob and Podgorica and Municipality of Ljubljana. Current cycling paths between the presented villages and Ljubljana are mostly carried out on dangerous and congested traffic roads. Thus, the primary purpose is to evaluate expected and already exsisted cycling links and represent possible links that could ensure greater security for cycling. The linkages are addressed to individuals who cycle in order to get to work, to school or errands, as well as to recreational cyclists. The thesis is divided into theoretical and analytical part. In the theoretical part we described the importance of cylcling in the cities, introduced what is needed to increase the number of cyclists, reviewed MOL Transport Policy and Development Strategy of Slovenia, and outlined what it takes to make cycling infrastructure safeer and user friendly. In the analytical part we have undertaken an analysis of the treated area, analysed the current condition of the existing cycling links, and analysed the area in terms of nature protection, cultural heritage, flood risk and tourist facilities and attractions. This was followed by an evaluation of the current condition of expected and already existed cycling links. Then we introduced a suggestion for improvement and observed problematic points. Finally, we summarized the findings of the analysis and additionally presented some possible suggestions for improvements, which would make the Šentjakob and Podgorica settlements more cyclists friendly.
