Pupils suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are not uncommon in modern society. Already in the early years of childhood they are very demanding and cause a lot of problems in different areas. The ADHD stands out intensively during the schooling period in the form of impulsiveness, disorientation, aggression to classmates, superficiality, reverie, lack of persistence, restlessness, continuous changing of activities, problems with reading, writing and disregarding of school rules. Theoretical part of the diploma work discusses basic definition of ADHD, different causes of ADHD and explains the nature and particularities of these pupils as well as current cultural trends which influence the pupils with ADHD disorder. It also points out problems these children experience in school system and highlights the positive characteristics and strengths of these children, which should be encouraged during the lessons. The empirical part of the diploma work took part in primary schools, where teachers from 1st to 5th grade filled in the questionnaire "Positive characteristics and strengths of pupils with ADHD". 62 teachers from 7 primary schools in Slovenia were involved in the research. Results revealed that teachers were able to recognize several positive characteristics and strengths of pupils with ADHD and encourage them to show and develop their potentials in several ways (praise, physical touch, smile, with greater attention, etc.)
