The main topic of the thesis is book and literary education interlaced with family literacy in the preschool period.
Its goal is to present literary works and connect them to certain fields in the curriculum as well as discuss the possibilities for developing the activities in terms of adding, removing and changing them or using them as inspiration for new ones.
Moreover, it presents book and literary education, reading and family literacy, and the role of adults who are responsible for providing adequate literary resources to children, reading and setting a good reading example.
As for the practical part, it describes five literary works by foreign and Slovene authors and all the related activities conducted in every age group of children. The activities are based on the texts and connected to the areas of the kindergarten curriculum. However, they can be adapted to individual groups in terms of the needs and abilities of the children. They should serve as guidelines rather than strict instructions. Each kindergarten teacher can include their own ideas, improve the activity or create something completely different and new.
