The diploma thesis is based primarily on the research of the degradation in the solar
power plant, especially the degradation of the photovoltaic module. First, main building
blocks of solar power plants are described. They are presented to examine and identify
the potential impacts of degradation.
The greatest impact on degradation of the solar power plant has a technology of silicon
solar cells and aging process of implemented materials. The exposure to the sun of a ten
years old solar module was performed in the Laboratory of Applied Electronics by Dr.
Brecl and that was the main research object.
The study soon revealed that several serious direct and indirect degradations in the solar
power plant can be observed. Therefore, I had a task to focus on the degradation of the
inverter, injuries of modules, system defects, general errors of the modules, such as a
derogation Eva foil, etc.
For the purposes of research I also did tests on a 9,3 kWp photovoltaic power plant
which is owned by me. The results of the above mentioned research and tests are
presented in the last part of diploma thesis.
