Abstract
S pomočjo razpoložljivih elementov in naprav v Laboratoriju za sevanje in optiko izmerimo frekvenčno odvisnost optičnih sklopnikov z dvema izhodoma in pridobljene merilne rezultate primerjamo z simulacijami. V prvem poglavju diplomska naloga na kratko predstavi pasivna optična omrežja. V drugem poglavju opisuje optične sklopnike, njihove lastnosti, vrste sklopnikov, izdelavo sklopnikov, predvsem vlakenskih in planarnih sklopnikov, primerjavo med obema ter sklopitev dvojedernega vlakna. Tretje poglavje opisuje uporabo in princip delovanja optičnih sklopnikov.

Title:Frequency dependence of optical couplers with two output ports
Abstract:
The thesis addresses optical couplers for passive optical networks. Optical couplers are passive components (for its operation does not require power supply) in optical access networks. Coupler may be used as a directional coupler or a splitter, because it is reciprocal passive element. We encounter them in the network (distribution of signal from the central to many users) as the measuring equipment (fiber interferometer). The purpose of this thesis is the presentation of optical couplers, their properties and technologies for their manufacture. With the help of available components and equipment in the Laboratory for Radiation and Optics we measure the frequency dependence of the optical couplers with two outputs and derived measurement results are compared to simulations. The first chapter of the thesis briefly presents the passive optical network. The second chapter describes optical couplers, their properties, types of couplers, manufactoring technologies of couplers, especially fiber and planar couplers and a comparison between the two. The third chapter describes the use and working principle of optical couplers. The fourth chapter describes the measurement of the optical couplers and outlined procedures, measurements and results that were carried out in the Laboratory for Radiation and Optics in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, it also shows the simulation of power transmission. In the last part of the thesis the author expresses his opinion on the future of passive optical networks, which use optical couplers.
