The thesis discusses the usage of active bypass diodes in the photovoltaic panels. The replacement of the conventional Schottky and PN diodes with active ones increases the efficiency of the panel, resulting not only in the strong impact on the electricity production but also in the decrease of the risk of fire.
The thesis presents the operation of solar cells, the problem of shadows cells in the photovoltaic panel and the importance of using the bypass diodes. The central part describes detailed operation of the active bypass diodes and their advantages. A design of the test circuit of the active bypass diode, whose operation is evaluated by performed measurements, has also been made.
