Due to it’s characteristics and especially good network coverage, GSM technology although of UMTS and LTE presence, still remains actual. Nevertheless because of many reasons fluctuation of signal is present, consequently autonomy drop occurs.
First part of my diploma describes history and basics of GSM, mobile network components, call features and potential occurrence of troubles. Practical part shows current consumption on battery terminals of mobile equipment, at present different power states, taken with Rohde & Schwarz CMU 200, Nokia 6230 Mobile, memory osciloscope Tektronix TDS2002B and shunt.
Represented results shows significant impact on battery autonomy at different signal fading which could be consequence of UE’s long distance from base station or obstacles between.
