With the increasing availability of powerful hardware and software it is possible to develop a creative and affordable systems for home automation.
This thesis presents an implementation of voice controlled switches.
Speech recognition is processed on a card-sized computer (Raspberry Pi) with help of an open source project (Jasper Project).
When a voice command is recognized, a text command is sent to Arduino microcontroller. Arduino then emulates the remote control of radio-controlled switches.
This is achieved with the help of 'rc-switch' library and a special gateway circuit.
Such a solution does not require any building modifications and is relatively inexpensive.
