The master thesis includes a proposal of a measuring instrument that determines the level of suitability of competences of an individual for a design and technology teacher. The aim of the measuring instrument is twofold – prognostic and diagnostic. The target group of the prognostic aim are students, who decide for an undergraduate program »Double-major teacher«, majoring in technology and ... during the information days or even earlier. On the other hand, diagnostic aim is intended for teaching staff in order to determine technological competences of students enrolled in course of technology and ..., as well to identify the students that are potentially suitable for an undergraduate program »Double-major teacher«, majoring in technology and ... A proposal of such measuring instrument has already been created within the framework of bachelor thesis, which represents the starting point for this thesis and is simultaneously its continuation. In accordance with in-depth theoretical assumptions, the existing measuring instrument was analyzed and revised. The new measuring instrument comprises 14 items from the cognitive and affective area, demographic questions have been added separately. Time available for an individual to fulfill the questionnaire is 20 minutes. According to the score, we are able to determine individual's inappropriateness, neutrality/potentiality or suitability for the prospective technology teacher. The obtained measuring instrument was tested on targeted groups of individuals, namely pedagogues and engineers. With a group of pedagogues, we gained insight into the sensitivity of the questions/tasks in the affective area, while a group of engineers gave an insight into the sensitivity of the tasks in the cognitive area. Approximative T-test for independent samples has shown a statistically significant difference of arithmetic means between pedagogues and engineers at both, affective and cognitive areas. In comparison with pedagogues, engineers demonstrated greater interest, willpower and motivation for engineering education. Engineers are also more successful in achieving a higher level of knowledge in technological areas. Our measuring instrument was also tested during the information days for enrollment in the academic year 2016/2017 for an undergraduate program »Double-major teacher«, majoring in technology and ... at Faculty of Education, University of Ljubljana.
