The purpose of the research was to collect subjective assessment of special and rehabilitation pedagogues' health in Gorenjska area. The research was conducted at four schools with adapted program in Gorenjska area. All in all, 35 special and rehabilitation pedagogues took part in the research. The average age of the participants is 43.5 years and the average years of service reached 13.5. All data was gathered by online questionnaire that had been modified from an official questionnaire Health and Lifestyle (Z zdravjem povezan življenjski slog, CINDI Slovenia, 2008).
According to the results of the research, 71% of special and rehabilitation pedagogues do sports in their free time, the most frequent type of which is walking. Although the majority pays attention to healthy diet, they skip meals. Based on the body mass index, 74% of special and rehabilitation pedagogues have appropriate weight. 20% of all special and rehabilitation pedagogues in Gorenjska area are smokers. The majority of the specialized pedagogues sleeps 6 to 7 hours per night. They most often see a general medical practitioner and the average sick leave lasts 4.7 days. What needs more attention is the fact that 62% of special and rehabilitation pedagogues are occasionally tense and suffer from stress or high pressure. The reasons for that lie in workload as well as in increasing taking work home, administrative work and responsibility for others. Tension, stress and pressures at workplace are most often coped with talking to family or co-workers and regular recreation. Their load is the heaviest at the beginning of school year. Furthermore, load seems to increase year by year. Thus, special and rehabilitation pedagogues suffer from several health issues, such as headache, hearing problems, cold and backache. Even hoarseness, inflammation of the urinary tract and digestion issues occasionally appear.
