A correct and accurate determination of tooth root canal slopes is important for a successful treatment with apicoectomy. In this work we present a way to determine these slopes for every root in every tooth in a collection of three-dimensional images, acquired by the computed tomography imaging technique. We enabled measuring of these slopes with the use of a software, designed for this purpose.
Each individual slope is calculated as an angle between the normal of the occlusal plane and the slope vector, orthogonally projected onto planes, which are tangent and orthogonal to the dental arch.
To facilitate the subsequent statistical analysis, the results are presented as an Excel document.
This work contains user instrucions for the software and a more detailed description of the procedures used to calculate the results and manually determine the tooth root canals.
