The topic of the thesis is accessibility of museums to the people who are blind or visually impaired. Blind people or those with visual impairment go to institutes like these as one of their free time activities, where they can educate and socialise. A great number of exhibitions in museums are designed for people, who can see well, that is why people who are blind or with myopia can experience their visit as less pleasant.
The thesis focuses on the accessibility of three museums in Gorenjska region. By going through the literature systematically, we chose some adjustments, which help the museums increase the accessibility of their exhibition area and collections, and arranged them in a grading scale. The scale helped us to evaluate the accessibility of the three chosen museums in Gorenjska. We also wanted to know why museums mostly aren't accessible or adjusted. We researched to what extent the employees of the museums (curators) are informed about working with this kind of population. We also researched the experiences of the people who are blind or with myopia when going to museums and possible reasons for not going there.
