This diploma work deals with the topic of wood biomass, with a focus on wood pellets. It analyzes teaching the topic in primary schools in relation to the current existing curricula. Firstly, there is a presentation of theoretical background in relation with wood biomass in general and in Slovenia. There are basic concepts explained, that are used to describe the energy value of various wood fules. First and second part of this diploma work are linked together by an analyzis of two articles, that describe how the wood biomass topics and biomass in general are dealed with schools in the United States. In the second part of this diploma work there is an analyzis of some textbooks and six curricula - curricula for Technology education, Physics, Science and technology, Chemistry, Biology and Science. In relation with wood biomass it checks how and in which curricula's themes teacher is able to involve biomass into his current lessons. The analyzis also contains the description of possible cross-curricular connections according to the common topic – wood biomass. At the end of this diploma work there is a conslusion added, in which there are some findings written that we reached. Firstly, a topic about wood biomass is present in the curricula for Technology education, but only as material and not as energy source too. Secondly, wood biomass is in the six mentioned curricula well present, especially in the curricula for Technology education and Science. Furthermore, not only in Slovenia but also in some foreign countries there is a problem teaching the biomass topic. Last findings of this diploma work is that there are some cross-curricular connections mentioned in school curricula whereas in workbooks we cannot find any suggest of cross-curricular connections.
