Speech or language impairment in child development affects already the pre-schoolers. No matter what the cause for speech or language impairment is, it will definitely also effect on the other areas of the child development. In order to help a child improve in communication, we need precise and authentic evaluation of his/her communication skills. When we integrate a child with speech or language impairment into nursery school, the teacher becomes the person who will encourage and evaluate child's communication skills and progress. With authentic evaluation of the child's communication skills, the teacher can offer assistance in the individual's communication development within his/her professional competences. The nursery school teacher is undoubtedly extremely significant when it comes to the improvement of the child development. Nonetheless, he/she can also cause harm if his/her evaluation is false.
In this bachelor degree, cerebral palsy, which is the main cause of speech and language impairment of the child in the case study, is presented from theoretical perspective. Connecting the theoretical and empirical findings, I have come to important conclusions. For the description of the child's communication profile, the communication matrix was used. After the comparison of two profiles, which were evaluated by two assessors, I came to the findings, which show the importance of some factors that can affect the irrelevant evaluation.
People communicate always and everywhere. Children with impairment in their development may not be capable to develop socially acceptable communication. It is vital for them that the right approach is used, so they can develop their own communication systems, which will function also later in life.
