In this undergraduate disertation the use of various work methods with puppets, their effect on a childs' development and methods to create an encouraging environment are discussed and explained.
In the theoretical part, divided in two principal chapters (childrens' learning and puppet play), main characteristics and elements are outlined to create an encouraging environment and to enable active childrens' learning in the first age group in preschool. The role of a preschool teacher in creating a positive environment is discussed, his strategies and effects, the meaning of positive interactions between a teacher and a child, the domain of dramatic art in preschool and the role of the puppet play considering childs' development.
In the practical part, the activities implemented with the help of the puppet, the group pet, are presented. Through observation, regular documenting and analyzing the use of the puppet as a means of encouraging children for active learning and their independence, was presented and explained. It was determined the children have gained considerably in their independence, self-confidence, appropriate problem solving and obstacle overcoming with the use and the cooperation with the puppet. The puppet turned out to be an extremely cherished friend, who cheered up and helped everyone. It was included in daily routine as in everyday activities and games. With its help, interactive help, cooperation and empathy increased in the group. Time and again, the mouse eliminated the fear and increased childrens' self-confidence. Mainly, the mouse created a happy and relaxed atmosphere, the children and the teachers became closer and the relationship between the children was positive.
