In forest production good quality maintenance prolongs the number of working hours of a machine, decreases its cost price and increases the retum on the machine. The paper discusses economic eff ectiveness of an adapted farm tractor, a truck for wood transport, and of construction machinery in relation to working days in a year. More working days result in higher retums on the investment in machinery and higher economic indicators (intemal rate of retum and net current value). In conclusion, it is underlined that the decision on the introduction of refitment of the main construction machine was justified.
