The article is describing the circumstances and the way of living in a family where the child feels too exposed and too vulnerable to protect himselfand therefore the child builds the feeling of grandiosity and omniopotence to defend himself. Typical defence mechanism of narcissistic personality disorder are presented: avoidance, denial, projective identification, whithdrawal, grandiose defence, devaluation and self sufficiency defence. At last typical behavioural characteristics of adult people with narcissistic personality disorder are demonstrated, ended by a clinical example.
