We liquefied poplar wood with a thermo chemical reaction with glycerol and the catalyst of sulphuric(VI) acid. We determined the liquefaction yield and then we performed some experiments of discolouration of the liquefied mixtures with the water solution of hydrogen peroxide. We also studied the potential influence of pH value on discoloration of liquefied wood. We applied the products of liquefied wood with solutions of hydrogen peroxide on glass plates and cured the films at 130 °C. We measured the following properties of the cured films: drying stage, thickness of the film, resistance to liquids, flexibility by Peters, hardness by König and colour. We stated that the discolouration of the liquefied mixtures with water solutions of hydrogen peroxide was minimal. We also noted that coatings made of liquefied wood were hygroscopic.
