Influence of red heart on beech peeled veneer shrinking was investigated. 3 logs of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) with red heart and 3 logs without it were used for samples and tests. It was found out that the veneers with red heart shrank less than those without it. Veneers without red heart taken from interior parts of the logs shrank less than those taken from logsć periphery. Influence of tension wood, wood density, moisture gradient, juvenile wood, earlywood and latewood, centeringž clamping point at veneer peeling on beech peeled veneer shrinking were also investigated. Among all the factors mentioned above, centering/clamping point has the largest impact on smaller shrinking of veneer, made of interior parts of logs.
