The wolf can live in any environments where it can find enough food and safetyfrom human persecution. Forested mountain chain in south-east Slovenia named Gorjanci, represents important habitats, as well the corridors for various wildlife species, with wolves among them. In the study I tried to stress the importance of acquiring peace in the research area of about 37.500 ha, that can be frequently affected by different intruders into the area and might have the negative impacts upon the wolves. In the research I took into account recorded sings of wolf presence in Gorjanci, which I collected during my fieldwork, as well those gathered by my collegaue foresters and local hunters. I also evaluated potential prey availability for wolves, taking into account nutritional demands of the species and the biomass of main potential prey (red deer, roe deer, wild boar) in the area. I calculated nutritional carryng capacities for wolf, if different shares of available prey biomass could be left only to the species. I realized that whole area could support 9wolves if all the prey would be left to wolves, 3 wolves, if a quarter of theprey would be left, and finaly only 1 wolf if 1/10 of the prey would be left as the wolf prey. There are relative good habitat conditions for wolves in Gorjanci, but their suitability fully depends on Human tolerance towards the species.
