The purpose of the thesis was to describe and explore the state of LTE-Advanced
technology and Mobile WiMAX IEEE 802.16m (WiMAX 2) series of standards,
which fulfilled the conditions of the international Association for Standardisation
IMT-Advanced, and therefore became the fourth generation of mobile networks.
Firstly, we introduce the history of the development of mobile communications,
through all past generations until today. So for both, LTE-Advanced and mobile
WiMAX, we take a closer look at network architecture, frequency area of working
and the technology of information transmission. Some of them have entered into
service with the 4th generation of mobile technology and by that contributed to
higher data transfer rates and better optimization of the network. Despite the fact that
the LTE network was launched on the market about seven years after the WiMAX
network, it has gained a lot of support from large telecommunication companies in a
few years.
The result of this can be seen in the last part of the thesis, and it is reflected in the
placement of network elements of LTE-Advanced to the WiMAX network. With this
move, WiMAX operators are committed to complete the transition to TD-LTE
network and thereby provide a wider range of users and the support of the latest
mobile terminals.
