The rapid development of the television industry is one of the main reasons for development of the satellite video transmission technology. The first such system was the Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite known as DVB-S. It was developed in 1993 by working group named DVB Project. DVB-S soon needed the upgrade, because of high definition videos which required higher data rate. The upgrade followed in DVB-S2 which stands for Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite – Second Generation which provided users with advanced modulation techniques and was also compatible with previous DVB-S system. DVB-S2 was around for almost 10 years until the third generation system arrived. The third generation system NS3 was developed by NovelSat. The advantages are advanced modulation techniques, a better use of spectral efficiency and compatibility with DVB-S and DVB-S2 systems.
