The paper is based on analysis of diaries of "well-known Slovenian citizens", published in a Saturday Supplement of a daily "Delo". Drawing on Goffman's dramaturgical concept of social interactions and Weber's theory of stratification, the diaries are analysed as public self-presentations of members of upper-middle stratum. The analysis focuses especially on a questionof how characteristics of upper-middle stratum and its differentiationfrom other social strata are presented in the diaries. The analysis leads to a conclusion that the diaries show a growing self-assurance of the upper-middle class in Slovenia.
