Abstract
Magistrsko delo obravnava francoske poudarjalne strukture in njihove ustreznice v slovenščini. V francoščini poznamo tri vrste poudarjalnih struktur: razcepljeno poved, psevdorazcepljeno poved in dislokacijo.

Abstract:
This master’s thesis examines French clefting structures and their counterparts in Slovene. In French, there are three types of clefting structures: the cleft sentence, the pseudo-cleft sentence, and dislocation. All three are precisely described in French grammars and clearly defined as devices of emphasis. In Slovene, similar structures do occur, but they are not systematically treated as means of emphasizing information. Instead, other strategies are used, such as the employment of emphatic particles or information-structure-driven word order, whereby the organization of sentence elements brings the important information into focus. The analysis is based on translations of French clefting structures into Slovene, drawn from the Le Monde diplomatique corpus via the NoSketch Engine interface. The study investigates to what extent the emphatic value of French structures is preserved in Slovene translations and by which linguistic devices this is achieved.
