Abstract

Title:The impact of climate change on workers in the construction industry
Abstract:
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges facing modern society, and its effects are increasingly being felt in the field of occupational safety and health. Rising average temperatures, more frequent and intense heat waves, and other weather extremes increase workers' exposure to various risks, especially in outdoor activities. Among the most exposed sectors is the construction industry, where work often takes place in demanding environmental conditions and involves a high level of physical exertion. The theoretical part of the thesis discusses the basic characteristics of climate change and its impact on the safety and health of workers, with an emphasis on exposure to high temperatures and heat stress. In the empirical part, a survey was conducted among employees in the construction industry during the summer period, with the aim of determining the level of exposure to heat, perceived effects on health and well-being, and existing preventive measures in the workplace. The results showed that workers are frequently exposed to high temperatures, which is reflected in fatigue and reduced well-being, while more frequent breaks and adjustments to working hours were identified as the most common preventive measures. At the same time, it was found that the consistency of implementing these measures varies between individual companies.
