This master’s thesis is based on my professional experience at Zavod Vitis Ptuj, where I work as a professional associate in the Social Inclusion Programme. The thesis focuses on individuals who have been issued a formal decision of unemployability and explores their lives, expectations and the distress they experience after receiving this decision. It also presents the assessment process on which such decisions are based, as well as the possibilities for social inclusion, given that these individuals are currently unable to participate in the open labour market.
The situation of persons declared unemployable is examined from multiple perspectives. On the one hand, the thesis presents the perspective of service users, analysing how they experience their life circumstances and how they cope with them. On the other hand, it presents the work of the institution in which such individuals may be involved, in my case Zavod Vitis Ptuj.
Zavod Vitis is dedicated to mitigating the consequences and to the active inclusion of persons with employment-related disabilities back into life and work. Within the Social Inclusion Programme, particular emphasis is placed on individualised support, while also fostering collaboration and equal participation. Service users are treated as equal partners in the support process, with the aim of strengthening their sense of belonging, participation, and shared responsibility in the process of inclusion.
The research highlights the wishes of service users, the programme content they perceive as most relevant, the aspects they find least appropriate, and their level of satisfaction with professional staff.
