Abstract
V magistrskem delu raziskujem zgodovino lesoreza na Japonskem in v Sloveniji s posebnim poudarkom na japonski tradicionalni tehniki mokuhanga. V teoretičnem delu predstavim kronološki pregled slovenskih barvnih lesorezov, ki jih hranijo Narodna galerija, Muzej novejše in sodobne zgodovine Slovenije in Galerija Božidarja Jakca.

Title:Ambient and Chance in Japanese Woodblock: The Theory of Japanese Woodblock Printing, Its Environmental Potential, and the Exhibition of Graphic Works Titled "Dark Matter" / Exhibition of Graphic Works Titled "Dark Matter"
Abstract:
In my master’s thesis, I explore the history of woodblock printing in Japan and Slovenia, with a special focus on the traditional Japanese technique of mokuhanga. In the theoretical part, I present a chronological overview of Slovenian colour woodcuts held by the National Gallery, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary History of Slovenia, and the Božidar Jakac Gallery. I also propose a Slovenian dictionary of basic terms related to Japanese woodblock printing, as they have not yet been systematically translated. I highlight the environmental potential of this technique, which is evident in the use of natural materials and sustainable processes. In addition, I focus on the philosophical reflection on the concepts of ambient and chance in artistic practice and explore connections with process art. I transfer these theoretical reflections to the practical part of the thesis, which is realized as an exhibition titled Dark Matter.

Keywords:painting, printmaking, traditional Japanese woodcut, ambient, chance, process art, exhibition of graphic works titled “Dark Matter”, MA thesis
