The influences of moisture content profile, density profile, dimensional stability and mechanical properties of individual layers in MDF board were defined, if the symmetry of the board was ruined due to one-sided cutting. 30mm MDF board was used and tested as a whole board, as well as sawn into 5 equally thick layers. It was found out that all the tested parameters vary along the board thickness. The density of the outer layers of the board is higher than that in its core, humidity of the outer layers lower than in its core, and the mechanical properties of the outer layers significantly better than those of the core. A strong correlation among all the tested properties was established. As regard that correlation it is safe to say that bending of the board is a consequence of all the tested parameters combined, if the symmetry of the board is ruined due to one-sided cutting.
