The aim of this thesis was to explore the potential role of school libraries in sexuality education, an area that remains severely underrepresented within the Slovene educational system. The holdings of primary and secondary school libraries were first analyzed to determine the amount of fiction and non-fiction books on sexuality, love and other similar themes within their collections. School librarians were then interviewed about their professional involvement in the field of sexuality education. The results show that there are significant differences in the availability of such materials among the libraries studied. On average, primary school libraries hold a greater number of such books compared to secondary school libraries, where the quantity of resources is connected to the type of educational programs offered at a particular school. Students generally do not perceive the school library as a relevant information source in this context, which might be due to the poor visibility and findability of these materials. The findings also suggest that school librarians do not regularly evaluate their collections, which may explain the prevalence of outdated and low-quality materials within them. Apart from insufficient financial resources, school librarians often cite limited administrative support and excessive workloads as barriers to effective library provision, the latter being the main reason for their reluctance to actively participate in sexuality education.
