The thesis discusses the determination of the shear strength of beech wood. The shear strength was determined through a shear test, where we analyzed wooden test samples. We used two types of fiber orientation in relation to the shear plane. After completing the measurements, statistical analysis of the data followed, where we compared our results with those from a previous study. We then determined the characteristic shear strength, which was later used in a practical application of the shear strength data. The practical application represents the joint between the beam and the rafter, which is executed using a single or double notch. In the conclusion, we describe the findings reached during the research and statistical analysis, as well as suggestions for further research.
