The thesis examines the ecological conditions for the growth of Bosnian pine (Pinus
heldreichii) in Montenegro, with a focus on the influence of soil, climatic, and anthropogenic
factors. Fieldwork was conducted in July 2025 at two locations: Kučka Korita (1300 m) and
Studeno (1194 m), where environmental parameters (slope, exposure, vegetation) were
recorded, soil profiles excavated and samples collected for laboratory analysis.
Bosnian pine proved to be a species with high ecological adaptability, thriving on both nutrientpoor and richer sites. However, its presence is often limited by light availability and
competition from other species. Field observations also highlight the negative impacts of
human activity, such as urbanization, fires, and illegal logging, which threaten natural habitats,
especially in areas without formal protection.
The collected data highlights the importance of sustainable management and conservation of
Bosnian pine habitats, which play a vital role in stabilizing mountain ecosystems, preventing
soil erosion, and preserving biodiversity in Montenegro.
