Abstract
Diplomska naloga osvetljuje pomen iluminiranih psalterjev kot učnih pripomočkov v času Karolingov. Glavno vprašanje pri tem je, ali in na kakšen način lahko iluminirani psalterji pripomorejo k doseganju izobraževalnih ciljev v omenjenem obdobju. V podporo iskanju odgovora so sprva predstavljene spremembe na področju šolstva, ki so se zgodile v času vladavine Karla Velikega. Prav tako so izpostavljene s tem povezane ključne značilnosti karolinške renesanse kot izobraževanju naklonjene kulture in vloga, ki so jo v tem kontekstu imeli samostani. Iskanje pedagoškega potenciala iluminacij je osredotočeno na enega ključnih del karolinške umetnosti, Utrechtski psalter. Rokopis in njegove ilustracije so na kratko predstavljene in povezane s pomenom podob, ki je pomemben z vidika učenja.

Title:Illuminated psalter as learning aid
Abstract:
The thesis Illuminated psalter as learning aid highlights the importance of illuminated psalters as learning aids during the Carolingian period. The primary concern in this context is whether and how illuminated psalters can contribute to achieving educational goals in the mentioned period. To support the search for an answer, there are firstly presented the changes in the field of education that occurred during the reign of Charlemagne. In connection whit this, there are highlighted key characteristics of the Carolingian Renaissance as the culture favorable to education and the role of monasteries in this context. The pursuit of the educational potential of illuminations focuses on one of the key works of Carolingian art, the Utrecht Psalter. The manuscript and its illustrations are briefly presented and related to the meaning of the images, which is important from the learning perspective.
