Abstract
Blockchain tehnologija prinaša varnost, transparentnost in decentralizacijo, kar izboljšuje poslovne procese v različnih industrijah.

Title:The influence of companies on policymakers and adoption of new technologies in the European Union
Abstract:
Blockchain technology brings security, transparency, and decentralization, which enhance business processes across various industries. This master's thesis examined the implementation of the technology in companies within the European Union, with a particular focus on its impact on competitiveness, innovation, and the relationship between businesses and policymakers. The analysis is based on case studies of four companies - Santander, Maersk, EnergiMine, and Siemens - that have successfully integrated blockchain into their business models. The research revealed that blockchain offers key advantages such as increased security, transparency, and decentralization, which significantly contribute to optimizing business processes, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction. These companies have also emerged as active players in shaping the regulatory environment by collaborating with European regulators and lobbying for legislative changes that have enabled faster and safer adoption of the technology. Despite these benefits, businesses still face challenges such as regulatory uncertainty, lack of standardization, and high initial implementation costs. However, the study confirms that blockchain technology presents significant opportunities for growth, digital transformation, and long-term competitive advantage for European enterprises. The main conclusion is that active business involvement in policymaking, combined with continuous technological innovation, is essential for the sustainable integration of blockchain technology into the EU’s business environment.
